Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing- Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report 6/9/19
Gail and her son John came down to Okeechobee to spend some time together while John is on break from college to enjoy some time together and some awesome fishing. The artificial bite has been great catching fish on swim jig, spinner bait, swim baits such as big e-z and skinny dipper as well. The morning bite is phenomenal but its ends just as quickly as it starts. I have been catching quite a few fish in the deeper water after the sun has come up. Come on down for some awesome Okeechobee fishing and some beautiful weather as well. The bluegill bite has been really good as well in the canals and in the lake if you can find the spawning areas. Crickets, worms, and grass shrimp have been working best.
The sun is out and fishing is good! As the Lake level drops the fish are and will continue to stack up in the deeper areas of the lake. Rattle traps, Carolina rigs, shaky heads, various crank baits etc. will catch fish as these fish move into these areas. The morning and evening bites are the best and it makes it easier on fishermen as they escape the hottest part of the day. The bluegill bite has been really good as well best around the full moons on crickets, worms, and grass shrimp under a cork. Catching a limit of slabs should be pretty easy this time of year.
Sung Kang and hi son enjoyed an awesome day on The Lake O catching 25-30 bass with of them over 5 lbs. The fish pictured weigh 7 lb. 9oz, 6 lb. 10 oz, and 2 right at 5 1/2 lbs. The fishing has been awesome this month so come and join us for some awesome fishing and some beautiful weather and LOTS of gators too. The weather has a big effect on the fish right now the overcast days have provided better fishing once the sun comes up. The morning bite is very important right now because thats when the fish have been most active. Graduation is coming for lots of High school students and college students so come on down for some relaxation and fishing!
Johnathan Hammett and his son came down to catch some bucket lip bass and some time together. These guys caught a ton of fish including these beauties caught on both artificial and live wild shiners. We saw some fish chasing shad so we caught some on top water and spinner baits first thing in the morning. Once the sun came up we caught fish on shiners one after another for the first hour with the biggest fish coming on shiners.

Another awesome day on the Lake these guys caught 30 plus fish in under 4 hrs. As the Lake level drops the fishing will continue to get better and better. These guys came along way to catch these big Okeechobee bass and I can tell you they were not expecting on how quick the bite was this morning. The water is clearing up as well which makes the artificial bite get better. As the summer progresses the morning bite will be key to catching fish as the sun comes up and the water warms the bite will slow throughout the day unless we get an abundance of clouds for the day. The top water bite should also continue to get better and better throughout the summer as well. Get down here and enjoy some summer sun and awesome fishing.
