Yesterday the Nascar season ended and today we went fishing with Ryan Newman and member of his team. We had 13 boats of anglers that went fishing for big bass with shiners, 3 bass over 18 inches could be kept and heaviest weight was the winner! I fished with Rob and Michelle Croom , 2 great people! We had a lot of laughs and caught a lot of fish, Our 3 fish weighed in at 21 pounds and 4 ounces, good enough for second place. The picture below is Ryan and Kristie Newman and Pro Koby Kreiger, they weighed in 15 pounds. A great time was had by everyone with lots of big fish caught. After weighing in we had luch at Northlake Marine Ranger in LakePort.

I fished with Bob Williams from Pembroke Pines today. Bob called me to talke about the 2007 Ranger Bass boats, and we ended up going fishing, putting our 2007 Ranger 521 thru its paces, we ran about 60 miles today just looking for some new areas to fish. We caught 21 fish for the day on artificial baits, trick worms, speed worms flukes and a carolina rig worm senko. Bob seemed very impressed with our new boat and was eager to go to the Ranger dealer to pick out his new boat. We had a great day fishing and catching bass!

November 8, 2006- I fished with George Minix from Indianapolis and his 2 sons, we fished half a day and caught 17 bass, George had the big fish, a nice 7 pounder!

(Joe Corrado and his 10 pound Okeechobee Bass!)

In my 20 plus years of fishing Lake Okeechobee, I have learned that the first wave of big pre-spawn females will usually show up around the middle of October. This year was no different! We started catching big bass around the 14th of October, Kenny Wertich caught an 8 pound fish that got the big fish fall season under way, Carolyn Lipes and Stuart Sabol both caught big fish right after that as did Scott Fowle. Bill Miller caught the first Okeechobee giant over ten pounds a couple of weeks ago and this week Joe Corrado kept it going with another ten pound fish!

2007 Ranger Bass Boat

Oct 1, 2006- We finally got our new boat! it is a 2007 Ranger 521VX with a 250 Yamaha Vmax HPDI, She has all the new technology and is equipped with a Minn Kota 101- 36 volt trolling motor that is hooked up to a bow mount Lowrance 332c sonar unit that can be used while using the trolling motor, an in dash Lowrance 336C GPS-Sonar, and more storage space than I have ever seen in a bass boat. The ride is incredible, fast and very stable. This boat has a full bench seat that will seat everyone comfortably. We are very excited about the upcoming season and fishing with our friends out of our new Ranger.

Big Bass! 9lb 10oz

Today I fished with John, George & Becky from Indiana. As I have been saying all week the stable weather has been improving the bite every day. Today was the culmination of a week of warm stable weather, with the Bass going on a feeding frenzy, we caught 45 Bass in 4 hours, all on wild shiners. The Star of the day however was Becky , who caught a 9lb 10oz Okeechobee giant. The stir this fish created was enormous, first with the strike and the catch. but even more once it was boated and weighed proving it to be the largest Bass of 2006, thus far. Congratulations Becky!

January 6th 2006 Report with Okeechobee Fishing Guides

January 6, 2006- I fished with 2 fishing pro’s today Tim Herndon and Morris Nix are from Marietta Ga. and both of them fish the Stren tournament trail as well as the BFL tour. Our day of fishing started with us running into some schooling fish at our very first stop. We caught about 20 fish from the school before they quit on us, Morris lost a giant fish at the boat, she got tangled in the anchor rope and broke off, I could tell he was very disappointed. We then made a few other stops that did not pan out for us, so we made a long run to a spot that has produced in the past. The moment our shiner hit the water the cork disappeared, and the action continued for about 45 minutes resulting in another 24 fish. Tim hooked a 7lb fish and landed it, it was hooked deeply and I was having difficulty removing it, at that same time Morris hooked another big fish, so I stuck Tim’s first big fish in the live well to net the fish Morris had on, it turned out to weigh 7lbs 10oz, in the meantime Tim had thrown another rod with a shiner into the same hole and instantly had another big fish on, it turned out to be the largest of the 3 fish, it weighed 8lbs 3oz. So here we are with 3 big spawning females in the boat at the same time, I told both guys this was the picture opportunity of a lifetime, and we took full advantage, photographing all 3 fish together before releasing all 3 unharmed to be caught again. It was one of my most memorable guide trips ever, and I was lucky enough to spend it with my 2 new friends.
