Harrison Edwards and his brother both caught several really nice fish today fishing artificial lures in the cattails and dollar pads today. The fog hung around until about 11am letting very little light through the clouds which made the bite today hang on longer than normal. We caught these fish on a couple different swim baits and some top water frog action as well. We were having so much fun catching them that we let a few go that we should have gotten pictures of but didn’t. We had a few fish come up on the swim baits and blow up on it or wake behind it and never hit it as well. The bite is going to continue to get better and better as long as we can keep some clean water and low winds. I am SO looking forward to the next couple of weeks as some of the bigger fish move up in waves. Got a feeling I will be seeing more of these young men after what they saw and experienced on the lake today. Want to book a trip come on down and join us this Spring!
Paul and Milt came fishing with us again and another great day on Lake O. These guys came last year and caught between 30 and 40 bass this year they both caught their personal best! Both fish are over 6 1/2 lbs and we caught several other nice fish as well. These guys come down here each year to escape the cold from up north and this year who can blame them? With all the cold weather we have had up north this year it is perfect time to come down and fish with us! Come on down and catch your Personal Best bass with Okeechobee Bass Fishing. We also caught another nice size striper as well.
Joe Marino and his son Joe Jr. came down from the North East to fish with us this week and it was just amazing! Cold water and big fish is what we found with several fish over 5lbs. and 1 6 lb. 2oz. Sunshine Bass which is a hybrid Striper and White Bass mix. These fish can get up to 15 lbs but the biggest I have heard of in the lake is 11lbs. These fish fight super hard and don’t ever give up. The weather is supposed to change next week so fishing should continue to heat up. These guys both caught their personal best bass what a day! Come on down and join us!
Mike Mitchell from Colorado came back down to fish with us for the next couple days and this was a great start to the trip! Mike is a Marine biologist and studies fish and their spawning patterns. It was very interesting to learn about the differences in the Northern strain Largemouth and the Florida strain Largemouth their differences and similarities. We caught several BIG fish today and our 5 fish total weight would have went around 31 32 pounds. This weekend there will be around 250 boats fishing all over the lake with the FLW tour so I am looking forward to seeing some BIG bags this week as well. Okeechobee Fishing Guides will work their best to try to keep you on the fish and get you the fish of a lifetime!
Johnathan Howell and his daughter Christa had an awesome day with Okeechobee Fishing Guides catching some really nice fish. Christa was an awesome fisher women she caught the biggest fish of the day and lost a couple good ones as well since they were biting slow today and not eating the bait well. Even with the fish not eating well we worked hard and managed to catch some great fish and I enjoyed some great company as well. I am looking forward to seeing this family again in the near future!
Scott Shafer Ohio and his long time buddy came fishing this afternoon and we caught some nice fish all of which look like they are eating well. These guys enjoyed the Florida weather and were thankful to get out of the wind and ice of Ohio. These guys haven’t fished in years but they got back into it like riding an old bike. The fish bit strange today many times hey would chase the shiner around hit at it but never take the bait. The weather being cold may have something to do with the fish slowing down a little but it was still great fishing!
