Matt Landon his father and son came too. These guys had never caught more than a few fish per day but this day they would. We caught around 60 bass total with these fish being some of the biggest. The fish are in pre-spawn mode and are feeding and gorging themselves in preparation for the spawn on the next moon. Just look at the smiles on those faces! I get to take 3 generations of fishermen to enjoy something they love and enjoy together. What a blessing! If you haven’t booked your trip this season NOW is the time.

Scott Deagle came all the way down from South Dakota to fish with his buddy and Okeechobee Fishing Guides (Capt. Nate Shellen) These guys have been staying down near Everglades City and doing quite a bit of snook fishing off the bank, so they enjoyed getting a day out on the water catching nearly 60 bass on Live wild shiners and artificial both. They are both seasoned fishermen casting baitcasters like they had been doing it all their lives. The fishing has been so much fun these last few weeks and will only continue to get better and better and spring approaches. The top water bite and swim bait bite will also heat up as the water temps do.

Delbert and Dave both caught a ton more fish today we lost count but it was still a blast! Today we did not catch as many BIG bass but we did catch one that was 6 1/2 lbs. The wind started picking up today which will make fishing for these fish a little tougher this coming week. With the water temps. perfect for these fish to eat the coming weeks should continue to bring good numbers of quality fish. This weekends tournament is guaranteed to bring some big bags.

Harrison Edwards and his brother both caught several really nice fish today fishing artificial lures in the cattails and dollar pads today.  The fog hung around until about 11am letting very little light through the clouds which made the bite today hang on longer than normal. We caught these fish on a couple different swim baits and some top water frog action as well. We were having so much fun catching them that we let a few go that we should have gotten pictures of but didn’t. We had a few fish come up on the swim baits and blow up on it or wake behind it and never hit it as well. The bite is going to continue to get better and better as long as we can keep some clean water and low winds. I am SO looking forward to the next couple of weeks as some of the bigger fish move up in waves. Got a feeling I will be seeing more of these young men after what they saw and experienced on the lake today. Want to book a trip come on down and join us this Spring!

Joe Marino and his son Joe Jr. came down from the North East to fish with us this week and it was just amazing! Cold water and big fish is what we found with several fish over 5lbs. and 1 6 lb. 2oz. Sunshine Bass which is a hybrid Striper and White Bass mix. These fish can get up to 15 lbs but the biggest I have heard of in the lake is 11lbs. These fish fight super hard and don’t ever give up. The weather is supposed to change next week so fishing should continue to heat up. These guys both caught their personal best bass what a day! Come on down and join us!

Mike Mitchell from Colorado came back down to fish with us for the next couple days and this was a great start to the trip! Mike is a Marine biologist and studies fish and their spawning patterns. It was very interesting to learn about the differences in the Northern strain Largemouth and the Florida strain Largemouth their differences and similarities. We caught several BIG fish today and our 5 fish total weight would have went around 31 32 pounds. This weekend there will be around 250 boats fishing all over the lake with the FLW tour so I am looking forward to seeing some BIG bags this week as well. Okeechobee Fishing Guides will work their best to try to keep you on the fish and get you the fish of a lifetime!
