Don and Jim Robinson caught some beauties today on the Big O. Fishing was definitely slower today since the wind is blowing 20-25 mph. But we managed to scrape up some nice fish on today’s 8hr trip. Don came last year and caught several nice fish then as well. This year he brought his brother to catch some Okeechobee Bass. We had a good start hopefully tom. we will get a biggun.
Dominic his wife Maria, and sister in law Emilia came down from the frigid weather in Ohio for some fun, sun and fishing in the Big O. They all caught fish and they even caught some bigguns! Maria caught this 6 lb 2oz. beauty and Dominic caught this 4 1/2 lb as well. They have now sworn to make this a yearly trip. Thanks for coming and look forward to seeing you next year.
Art Wittern from Minnesota and his buddy from Iowa came down to escape the frigid weather and catch some Florida bucket lips. These guys spend a lot of time fishing together but this is the first time they have fished together in Florida. They both caught some really nice fish and a total of about 30 or so total. The fishing will continue to get better as we creep closer to the new and full moons.

Tim Finafrock came down to enjoy some fun, sun and fishing with Okeechobee Fishing Guides. Boy, did he catch some fish! We caught 35-40 bass in this 8 hr. trip with several being in the 4-5lb range. This trip has been on Tim’s bucket list for years so it truly made his year to catch SO many nice Okeechobee Bass. We also saw roseate spoon bills, coots, gators, too many different duck species to count, and many other South Florida species. This has got to be my favorite time of the year!

Matt Landon his father and son came too. These guys had never caught more than a few fish per day but this day they would. We caught around 60 bass total with these fish being some of the biggest. The fish are in pre-spawn mode and are feeding and gorging themselves in preparation for the spawn on the next moon. Just look at the smiles on those faces! I get to take 3 generations of fishermen to enjoy something they love and enjoy together. What a blessing! If you haven’t booked your trip this season NOW is the time.

Scott Deagle came all the way down from South Dakota to fish with his buddy and Okeechobee Fishing Guides (Capt. Nate Shellen) These guys have been staying down near Everglades City and doing quite a bit of snook fishing off the bank, so they enjoyed getting a day out on the water catching nearly 60 bass on Live wild shiners and artificial both. They are both seasoned fishermen casting baitcasters like they had been doing it all their lives. The fishing has been so much fun these last few weeks and will only continue to get better and better and spring approaches. The top water bite and swim bait bite will also heat up as the water temps do.
