John and his sons Chris (12) and Baxter (10) came down from Virginia to fish with Okeechobee Bass Fishing. These guys boated over 35 bass with 5 being around 5lbs. the biggest being 5lbs. 6oz. The weather has been perfect for these fish to be eating and getting fat preparing for the upcoming spawn. The wind has been out of the east/south east so it is clearing up a bit which is helping the bite as well. The artificial bite has also begun to get better and better as well. I have been catching fish on a senko, speed worm, and the top water bite has been heating up as well. Looking forward to seeing these to boys grow up and catch a whole lot more BIG Okeechobee Bass!
Dave Gotsch and his son Conner have been fishing with us for a few years now and they have had some good luck each and every time! Today we caught in the mid 20’s but caught 3 bigguns 1 was 7lbs 7oz. 1 was 7lbs. 2oz. and was one 5lbs. 6oz. The weather was perfect and the fog hung til past 9am making the fish eat like crazy. Although the water is dropping the fish are loving the fact that the bait fish is getting flushed out of deep marsh areas where they have been laid up in the deeper water. These fish were all caught on live wild shiners using shimano stradic reels and gloomis rods.
Kristi and Tony Savage from TN. came down to see what all the rage is about with these Okeechobee Large mouth and they definitely didn’t disappoint. These guys caught 30 fish in under 4 hrs. on only 5 dozen Wild shiners. TN. is one of my favorite states in all of the U.S so we spent time talking about the mountains the fires and of course Dolly Wood. Tony spends a lot of time on the water he hasn’t however had a day where he caught so many bass in a day in hos life he said. Over all it was a wonderful day meeting these two and catching plenty of Okeechobee Large Mouth Bass.
Bruce Sherman and his sons Bruce, and Sam came to Okeechobee all the way from D.C. to enjoy some fishing time together and catch some Okeechobee Bass. Well, they caught around 50 going through over 10 dozen shiners and catching fish fast and furious for hours! As you can see in the photos all the fish we caught were fat and healthy fish and they were all let go unharmed. This morning the fog hung until well after 10am which may have helped the fish stay active and eating. The days seem to be getting better and better so now is the time to book your trip come on down and enjoy the beautiful weather and awesome bass fishing with OkeechbeeBassFishing.com.
Long time customers and great friends Van and Dan Frankel came down from NY to fish with Christmas to enjoy some fun and sun. The morning started cool but beautiful and the fish played right along, we caught just under 30 in only 3 1/2 hours and then we enjoyed some time out on the links together playing some golf in the afternoon. These 2 have been coming fishing with Okeechobee Bass Fishing for 10 years now so each year catching up is a blast! Dan works for the PGA and does a lot of travelling and plays a ton of beautiful golf courses as well. They are coming back in March with a friend for some more great fishing as well.
