I had the pleasure of fishing with Lauren Walker and her boyfriend both from Mass. Chris is an avid fishermen and loves the outdoors as well as bass fishing. He came to Okeechobee to catch that GIANT large mouth and it turned out that Lauren was going to give him some lessons in fishing and humility. She caught the 3 biggest fish of the day with the largest being just under 7 1/2 pounds with a few others in the 4- 5 pound range. The water is cleaning up and the fish are turning on. The big fish are moving up to in preparation for the up coming full moon.

Although the water temps. have been fluctuating 5-8 degrees from early morning to afternoon the bite has been rather steady. the late afternoon producing the bigger fish when the temps. are peaking. This fish and a few others came om top water between 11 a.m and noon. The weather is beautiful and cool. The seagulls, terns, pelicans, ducks, and other migrating birds are all here and it is amazing to watch them fly to there morning and evening roosting spots. The alligators are few and far between right now, being cold blooded they tend to not move around a whole lot until the water is over 70 deg. and then you will see them sunning themselves. Come visit this beautiful lake full of giant bass and beautiful wildlife.

On this second day with the Baldubchi we went crappie fishing in the 20 + mph wind and another fun and fish filled day. We caught at least 50 or more crappie today and the boys were already looking forward to the fish fry dinner. We caught the majority of the specks on jigs with some of them coming on live minnows under a cork. The crappie/speck fishing should continue to get better and better as we close in on the spring spawn. Come out and enjoy a day of either bass fishing or crappie fishing.
